Award winning composer and music producer, Luis Guerra, spent his early years playing drums and piano before picking up the double bass at an early age. He studied the instrument intensively and began performing professionally at the age of 15. He has performed on stage or recorded in the studio with musical luminaries including Peter Buck (REM), Patty Griffin, Marc Ribot, Jimmy Messer (producer- Kelly Clarkson), Alejandro Escovedo, Samantha Ronson, Meiko, The Movement, Barrett Martin (Screaming Trees), Rahim Alhaj, Kevin Hays (Blue Note Recording Artist), Coleman Barks, Bobby Shew, Tosca Tango Orchestra, and Orchestra La Tribu.
Most recently, his music has been featured in Malcolm Gladwell's chart topping podcast and 2017 Webby Award winner, "Revisionist History." In 2010, he moved to Los Angeles to compose music for picture. In the last six years, he has accomplished exactly that and more... His music has been featured on commercials for Honda, Samsung, and Mentos. He composed music for the Netflix documentary "Art of Conflict". He also composed music for "Superthief" and recently had a song placed in "Whiskey Tango Foxtrot" with Tina Fey. He has worked on TV shows, Doc McStuffins and Henry Hugglemonster in addition to recently composing music for short films, "The Bunker Buster" which stars Kyle Bornheimer from CBS' "Fallen Angel." As he continues to earn credits as a composer for film, he also continues to receive attention for prior work. He is a 2012 American Artist Fellowship nominee for his work with Fonografia Collective. He won a 2011 Silver Addy Award for music in the Southwestern region. He also won Producer of the year for the 2009 New Mexico Music Awards.
